Follow on Google News | Former Prime Minister Naoto Kan Speaks Out Against Nuclear EnergyBy: Samuel Lawrence Foundation Following citizen-organized conferences in the U.S., Japan, and Taiwan this past year, PM Kan cites the public-won victory over San Onofre nuclear power plant sited north of San Diego, California, which occurred only three days after after his key statement at a June 4th conference entitled “Fukushima: While describing the experience to his global audience, he held up a July 4th Los Angeles Times advertisement titled ‘The Noblest Motive is the Public Good”, the San Diego County seal motto, in which PM Kan, former U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Chairman Dr. Gregory Jaczko, and other nuclear industry experts were publicly thanked for openly discussing their public safety concerns. This conference was hosted by the Samuel Lawrence Foundationwith a coalition of concerned citizens from California in order to create transparent public dialogue regarding the nuclear industry.
