World War 2 - 6th Marine Division Corporal portrays Admiral in low budget feature

Film Producer Daniel R. Christopher cast his Father Calvin in a major supporting role, 'promoting' him to 'Fleet Admiral' of the E.3E.T.F. (Earth 3rd Expeditionary Task Force) in the popular cult classic 80's Science Fiction feature Saga of a Crew.

SANFORD, Maine - Dec. 16, 2013 - PRLog -- ACTUALLY WE'RE IN LEBANON, MAINE, but our Town DIDN'T MAKE THE DROPDOWN. We're used to that!

The classic but seldom discussed low budget feature Film 'Saga of a Crew' has been something of an enigma within the Science Fiction community. It is very sad that this Film, with it's compelling mix of quirky acting, granular looking archival footage, and realistic looking technological spacecraft design concepts is not more widely distributed. Sad, because as rare an offering as this Film seems to be, the numerous sub plots, the main one being an underlying message of respect for elders, has a relevent message that might invite more literary analysis or even appreciation of the cult Film, if only enough people become aware of it's existance!

The 1984 production can lay claim to several accomplishments. First, the little known fact that the Film was shot in the Super-eight format is in of itself a triumph of mediocrity, while also being quite revealing about the production budget (aproxiamately $13,000). Then there was the matter of the Film's production schedule: With filming comencing around 1982, halting in 1984 when nearly completed due to budget restraints, then resuming production around 2006 with an eventual 2008 release, 'Saga of a Crew' embodies the word persevere.

Even casting for the Science Fiction shipwreck/survival story took a unique turn when, in 2007,  Producer/Director Daniel R. Christopher decided to delete some original scenes, removing one original Actor's 1980's footage, and replacing those scenes with a new Actor, his Father, Calvin. A World War 2 veteran, whom once charged up Sugar Loaf Hill as a 6th Division Marine now portayed the "Fleet Admiral" of the "Earth 3rd Expeditionary Task Force". According to Producer/Director Christopher,  the cast of Saga of a Crew consisted of 'actors of various caliber' and his Father was no exception. He, as well as the other cast members, posessed just enough faith in the story's message, or just enough confidence or curiosity in the productions potential, or were compensated just enough, to lend their talents to this unusual Film inigma.
