Announcing NavDive -- GPS navigation for Divers

MINNEAPOLIS - Dec. 3, 2013 - PRLog -- Applied Logic Engineering, Inc. (www.appliedlogiceng.com), a Minneapolis-based designer and developer of embedded systems and related software, has announced today that they have initiated a Kickstarter campaign on their latest project, NavDive.

NavDive (www.navdive.com) is a patent pending system that uses GPS-technology to allow SCUBA divers to navigate while underwater.  The system consists of a self-contained unit that the diver carries during the dive that displays his/her current latitude/longitude and heading while operating underwater.  In addition, the diver can save his/her current position into NavDive’s memory on demand to record interesting discoveries, geography, or other points of interest.  The diver can also use NavDive to navigate directly to pre-stored target positions while conducting the dive, eliminating the need to surface to check position or heading.  Lastly, NavDive can record the diver’s current position into memory automatically every 10 seconds to record the entire path of the dive as it occurs.

The system also includes a Microsoft Windows application software that transfers the information recorded during any dive from NavDive to the PC in order to create reports, dive logs, maps, or many other types of output useful for a host of applications.  The software is also tightly integrated Google Earth to provide easy virtual mapping of data obtained by the NavDive system anywhere on earth.

NavDive is targeted primarily towards recreational divers, commercial divers, public safety divers, marine archeologists, GIS professionals, and aquatic researchers.  “This is a tool that will become useful for anyone that operates underwater or that needs to consume data regarding underwater locations”, commented Kelly Nehowig, the President and CTO of Applied Logic.  “It was designed by divers for divers and the system provides an easy and fun way to extend GPS technology to underwater use”.
