Horizon Engineering Associates, LLP contributed to three 2013 ENR Best Projects

New York, NY – Horizon Engineering Associates, LLP (HEA) provided building commissioning services for three award-winning projects in the 2013 Best Projects awards presented by Engineering News Record.

Out of the 67 submitted projects, only 18 were awarded the “best” distinction with 21 others claiming awards of merit. “We are so proud to be involved with these projects,” said Senior Partner and Founder Michael English. “It is an honor that our clients are being recognized for these amazing projects and we are glad to have been able to provide them with customized building commissioning services.”

Award-winning projects for which HEA provided building commissioning services includes:

1.     Best Green Project: Rochester Institute of Technology’s Golisano Institute for Sustainability. This 84,000 sf structure is the signature building for the development of sustainable technologies in the manufacturing, transportation and energy industries.

2.     Award of Merit, K-12 Education: Alternative Science School for Math & Science Expansion, Corning, Inc. This 38,000 sf school integrates sustainable features by using low-emitting materials and installing lighting control systems.

3.     Award of Merit, Government/Public Building: 121^st Police Precinct. Located in Staten Island, NY. This 50,000 sf station house is seeking LEED Silver certification. It will be the first LEED Silver precinct in the city and is the first new precinct on Staten Island since 1962.
