By: California Maritime Leadership Symposium The Symposium Honoree of Merit Award is bestowed upon an individual or organization that has made a significant and demonstrable contribution to the Maritime Transportation System in the state of California. As the 2014 Honoree, The Port of San Francisco will be recognized during its 150th anniversary and acknowledged for its support of maritime commerce and operations, navigation, fisheries, environmental and historical preservation, and providing public recreation opportunities for the San Francisco area. “The Port of San Francisco is extremely honored to be named the recipient of the 2014 Merit Award by the California Maritime Leadership Symposium,” said Port Executive Director Monique Moyer. “This prestigious award from our peers in the Maritime community -- during the Port’s 150th anniversary period, makes it especially rewarding. The Port’s long history of maritime tradition and commitment to maintaining maritime industries, waterborne transportation and good jobs on San Francisco’s waterfront remains among our highest priorities. We wholeheartedly thank the Symposium for this very distinguished award.” As part of the Symposium’s annual tradition, the Port of San Francisco will be formally honored during a special reception at the 14th Annual California Maritime Leadership Symposium among an audience of peers, including policy makers, port executives, maritime industry leaders and transportation planners. The Symposium has become one of the premier events focused on briefing Sacramento's policymakers on key matters related to the entire Maritime Transportation System. It is the only comprehensive forum for port executives, commissioners and other stakeholders across the state to seek resolution to the growing challenges the Maritime Transportation System faces. The CMLS is hosted by a broad-based Coalition.
