NuFun Games Launches Tangram Fury Print-and-Play Activity eBooks

PLEASANT GROVE, Utah - Nov. 12, 2013 - PRLog -- Today, online, the NuFun Games division of Peepsock Press, LLC announced that it has launched a new series of Tangram eBooks.   These tangram electronic books follow the prior release of a series of Tangram eBooks.  This series introduces the concept of a print-and-play ebooks.  They provide a series of tangram-themed activities that are intended to be printed, then performed.

"The original ebooks were designed to be viewed on an iPod or Kindle," Doug Nufer, inventor of Tangram Fury, said.  "Those work well to show a silhouetted tangram that fills the screen, with the next page or screen showing the solution.  eBook readers are encouraged to solve the puzzle before swiping to the next page.  They're great for puzzle enthusiasts who simply want to solve puzzles, in the same way that someone may get hooked on solving Sudoku puzzles."

"These print-and-play ebooks," Doug continued, "are even more interactive than that.  There are puzzles to solve, but in different venues or scenarios, with each one involving tangrams in one way or another.  Some are straight forward in that the puzzle needs to be draw within a grid.  Others are more challenging in that they may involve deciphering the subtle difference between two similar, but slightly different tangrams known as 'paradox tangrams'. "

"Then there are activities that can be done with tangram images such as a 2-dimensional tangram chess set, complete with a playing board to print, cut, and assemble.  There are even tangram cards to be printed and used for a matching game.  The Christmas book includes tangram-themed ornaments to be cut out and assembled.  We tried to include a host of tangram-themed activities.  The activity books are provided as pdf electronic files.  All the tangram enthusiasts have to do is print out whichever activities they're interested in and then play.  Hence, the print-and-play concept."

The series of Tangram Fury Print-and-Play Activity Books launches with five volumes.  These include the "Tangram Fury Print-and-Play Activity Book," the "Tangram Fury Print-and-Play Christmas Activity Book," the "Tangram Fury Print-and-Play 2D Chess Book," and two volumes of "Tangram Fury Paradox Books: Advanced Tangrams and Solutions."

"The 2D Chess Book actually includes both tangram chess and checker pieces and a chessboard to print out," Doug added.  "This same material is found in the initial Print-and-Play Activity Book, but we felt that some people may want the tangram chess, but not initially the other activities, so we've given them the option to purchase only that activity.  We assume, though, that someone who likes to puzzle over chess problems may end up intrigued with tangrams and end up pursuing the main activity book as well.  This is the only activity that is directly duplicated between books.  While there are other, similar activities between books, those activities use entirely different tangram puzzles."

When asked if the Tangram Fury Print-and-Play Activity Books would one day be made available in printed format, in addition to this electronic format, Doug responded, "That's highly possible.  However, the one advantage to an electronic book is that the activities can be printed multiple times and viewed with fresh eyes.  A pre-printed activity book can really only be used once, unless you go to the trouble of photocopying the pages, which copyrights usually discourage.  We are fine with our ebooks being printed multiple times so long as the copies stay within the immediate family that purchased the ebook. As with any creative work, a lot of time and effort went into creating them, and we'd appreciate it if our tangram enthusiasts didn't forward the ebooks round in e-mails, or post them to websites, and such."
