Click Energy’s Electricity Plans Still Some of the Cheapest in Victoria

COLLINGWOOD, Australia - Oct. 31, 2013 - PRLog -- Australian online energy retailer Click Energy has been deemed as one the cheapest electricity retailers in Victoria by an in-house comparison research study, conducted on the independent electricity comparison website Switch On.

Click Energy’s status as one of the most affordable electricity retailers in Victoria was not affected by the recent reorganisation of its electricity plan offering, with the online energy retailer discontinuing four electricity plans and introducing new plans to replace them.

The company has previously been rated as one of the cheapest energy retailers in Victoria by the Essential Services Commission’s Energy Retailer Comparative Report. In light of Click Energy launching two new energy products – Click Platinum and Click Superior – a research study was carried out by Click Energy to discover whether Click Energy’s prices were still as competitive as previously in the Victorian electricity market.

The research was conducted by utilising an electricity comparison tool on the Switch On website. Switch On is an initiative from the Victorian Government and the Department of State Development, Business and Innovation, which functions as an independent source of information on Victoria’s energy system.

When compared to other electricity retailers in Victoria, it was concluded that Click Energy still offers some of the most competitive prices in Victoria. Click Energy’s Platinum plan was deemed as $12 to $218 cheaper than competing offers and the Superior plan was ranked 3^rd cheapest out of 15 electricity providers in Victoria. Superior plan was also determined as $25 to $179 cheaper than 12 other competing plans in Victoria.

The calculations were based on the best offer for each provider as of 2 October 2013 from the Switch On website and the usage was based on a 6,000kWh per annum single rate tariff.  Some retailers provide a sign-up rebate and the Switch-On website currently does not account for this in their calculations. The average savings presented were inclusive of rebates that were presented for each offer.
