HAMILTON, N.J. - Sept. 27, 2013 - PRLog -- Interfaith Caregivers of Greater Mercer County (ICGMC) will honor four individuals and organizations at its 6th Annual Shining Lights Award & Recognition Event on Thursday, October 24th at the Mercer Oaks Country Club. Each year, the nonprofit’s gala event recognizes and honors those dedicated to promoting the independence and dignity of homebound elderly and people with disabilities in Mercer County.

This year’s honorees include:

·       The Honorable Ann Cannon, who has been serving Mercer County for more than 16 years as a Freeholder.  Ann also served as a member of the Board of Social Services and was a representative on the East Windsor Township Council. Today, Ann serves ICGMC as a member of the Advisory Board.

·        Danellie Foundation, which has been helping women and children from the New Jersey, Philadelphia and Baltimore areas for over 27 years by giving over $28 million in grant funding to area non-profits to support and enhance their missions.

·        Carol Olivieri, who served as the Executive Director of Healthcare Ministry of Princeton for 19 years. Under her dedicated leadership, the agency provided various supportive services to the elderly to allow them to remain in their homes.

·        The Church of Saint Gregory the Great in Hamilton Square, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year and has been an integral part of the Interfaith Caregivers family for over 18 years.  Their Helping Hands Ministry, with 88 active volunteers, has provided over 19,000 hours of service to nearly 100 homebound seniors and people with disabilities.

“The Board is extremely pleased to honor and celebrate the kindness, compassion and generosity of caring people in our community,” states Jane Latini, ICGMC Executive Director.  “We are very fortunate for the generosity of those who consistently dedicate their time, treasure, and talent to serve our mission.”

ICGMC held an honoree reception on September 16th at the Community Room of Stark & Stark in Lawrenceville (NJ) to introduce the honorees and to extend a formal welcome from the agency’s Board and leadership.  To learn more about the 6th Annual Shining Lights Award & Recognition Event, contact Interfaith Caregivers of Greater Mercer County at 609-393-9922 or visit www.icgmc.org.
