Follow on Google News | Advice & Guidance Courses - Vocational Versus Classroom Training CoursesWhat training is more effective - vocational or classroom based? We believe our approach to training is effective due to our innovative approach. We offer a blended delivery solution with less chalk and talk in the classroom and more vocational focus
By: Call of the Wild We at Call of the Wild have certainly seen an increase in business confidence over the last few months with more activity and enquiries coming in. Companies and organisations appear to be starting to consider training and development and put staff training back on the agenda. However any improvement has to be taken with with caution as the improvements are not consistent geographically across the UK or across different industry sectors. Against this background what approach should companies take when considering implementing new or moth-balled training courses? What will give them the best return on their investment? In our opinion it has to be vocational courses rather than traditional classroom based learning. This has to reduce the risk for companies in what are still uncertain times. The National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) is work-based, providing a training programme that is designed to meet the individual needs of the learner and be relevant to their individual workplaces. This enables them to deal with real world workplace issues and then apply solutions in the workplace which will make a real difference for the individual and the organisation they work for. Our approach is not a traditional chalk and talk approach. To make the course more powerful and relevant for the learner we adopt a blended learning approach with experiential learning at it's core. The “involve me and I will understand‘ principle is the one we follow. All our courses are designed to offer hands-on experience by doing and not just listening – less chalk and talk as with more traditional courses. We believe that this action based approach, through experiential learning programmes, is the most productive in terms of retention of learning and the beneficial transfer of that learning to your workplace. An example of this is our Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Advice and Guidance Course (http://www.callofthewild.co.uk/ The Advice and Guidance Level 4 NVQ Diploma course demonstrates candidates' competencies in advice and guidance roles that involve working directly with clients and delivering information, such as those working for local authorities, charities, voluntary sector or advice centres. Roles include include employment services, youth services, help desk and careers advisors, customer service advisors. End
