Is it the Shoes? Three Day Sneaker Festival

The last three decades have seen an explosion in sneaker culture. From music, film, fashion and art, kicks have defined an entire generation of enthusiasts who have embraced its rich history the world over.

LEYTON, U.K. - Sept. 12, 2013 - PRLog -- “Is It The Shoes?” a new festival taking place in East London from October 11th-13th at the Rag Factory - Apricot Gallery, will explore and celebrate the last thirty years of sneakers.

Whether it’s high end fashion designers wanting to collaborate with sportswear companies or Will Smith rocking Jordans on the Fresh Prince of Bel Air, sneakers have always been there with us, providing creativity and innovation in a way that will never be replicated.

Conceived and curated by experiential event company We Are Parable, this sneaker festival will highlight some of the rarest kicks over the last few years, but rather than simply admiring the arts exhibition and collection (provided by Northampton Shoe Museum, home to Europe’s biggest sneaker vault), it will also provide a context to understand how the shoes became universally loved.

The debate around where sneakers have come from and what the future holds for this phenomenon will be explored in a special one off panel discussion on Sunday October 13th, with key influencers in the game, from legendary sneaker head Kish Kash and television presenter Kelly Convey.

To further show the impact that sneakers have had over various cultural disciplines, a special screening of legendary documentary “Just For Kicks” also on the Sunday, allowing the audience to experience first hand the love for the game.

With an ambitious scope, “Is It The Shoes?” will attempt to encourage those with only a fleeting interest in trainers to come along and discover more about why it’s all about the shoes and what they mean to millions.
