SARASOTA, Fla. - Sept. 9, 2013 - PRLog -- A former network president, an award-winning radio commentator, radio and television station executives, news anchors, sportscasters, meteorologists, writers, and producers.

These are just some of the members of the Sarasota-based Broadcasters Club of Florida.

Originating as a chapter of the “Broadcast Pioneers” in 1992, this summer, the BCF underwent a restructuring and a new vision.  Rather than focus its monthly lunch discussions on the past, the club is now looking forward and tackling cutting-edge issues. Digital media, convergence, media & morality and other pertinent issues are up for discussion in the coming months. Compelling speakers, panels, and lifetime achievement awards are planned as well.

For example, October's kick-off will focus on the state of local TV news, entertainment programming and financial resources with an address from Jeff Benninghoff, the VP/GM of WWSB, ABC 7 in Sarasota. November's meeting will be a panel discussion on digital media. December's meeting will feature the dean of Tampa Bay news anchors John Wilson (FOX 13). An evening networking event will be held in mid-January.

The Broadcasters Club of Florida is open to anyone with an interest in the media. The BCF meets the second Friday of each month at the Sara Bay Country Club, just north of the Sarasota/Bradenton airport.  Luncheons are $22 for non-members and $20 for members. Membership is $20 per year, a portion of which goes to support the club's ongoing student scholarship program.

The new leadership of the Broadcasters Club of Florida includes:
