“It seemed like a no-brainer,”
Even experienced Spin instructors find this new fitness phenomenon challenging. “I taught in-studio spin for years,” remarks Bikes and Hikes Leandre Duchensne, the lead instructor for this new program. “Getting out and tackling real hills, not simulations on a machine, is a spinners’ dream. Not only is it a great workout, the scenery along the way simply can’t be beat.”
Outdoor EXTREME spin routes begin in West Hollywood at the Bikes and Hikes LA shop and quickly ascend into Beverly Hills where the challenging terrain immediately gets the heart pumping. The routes are varied but typically involve an ascent in elevation of over 1,000 feet; for many, the highest point the class reaches is LA’s legendary Mulholland Drive. Students log in about 10-12 miles per class and a typical session lasts about 1.5 hours. Average calorie burn is 1,400.
“This is the real deal,” comments Roman. “We’ve had some of the most hard-bodied, in-shape people in the city take this class and marvel at what a workout it is. If you’re looking for LA’s ultimate fitness class, you’ve found it.”
