Thomas Schoenberger Review "Classical Music Popular But Not More Than Pop" Featured in CNN Article

Prolific and talented classical composer, Thomas Schoenberger pens a revealing article that is an interesting mix of classical music history with a few surprises, especially in regard to the revelations about HipHip and Classical Music.

Aug. 14, 2013 - PRLog -- Thomas Schoenberger has composed for classical piano since he was a young boy and now routinely composes orchestral works as well.  This tireless classical music affectionado now has over 8,000 classical compositions in his repertoire. He tends to add new selections at the mindboggling rate of 30 new compositions a week.

In his featured article on CNN, http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-1017267 Schoenberger reveals, "The term "classical music" did not appear until the early 19th century, in an attempt to "canonize" the period from Johann Sebastian Bach to Beethoven as a golden age. The earliest reference to "classical music" recorded by the Oxford English Dictionary is from about 1836."

The article continues with rare and unusual glimpses into the background and acceptance of classical music. And Schoenberger has an interesting take on the genre, "In a discussion about classical music, most such discussions would result in either animated exchanges or a more mellow and introspective mood. After all, classical music does not necessarily belong to the masses of contemporary music lovers, and yet contemporary music lovers tend to like some pieces of classical music. In fact, there are several contemporary selections, including rock and hip hop that sample some classical music snippets.”
