Westland Church Brings Victory to the Community and Its Members

WESTLAND, Mich. - Aug. 4, 2013 - PRLog -- As we head into September, many are enjoying the last bit of summer. Summer signifies time to relax – but for those on a mission, summer is a time for industriousness. Just like a busy ant in the summer, Anthony Shannon, a pastor in Westland, Michigan, is rebranding.  His church, originally named Beyond the Veil, was renamed to The Victory Church International [http://thevictorychurchint.org]

"Times are tough. People want to know how to win.  It starts with a mindset.  People have to believe the victory in their heart before they see it in their world,” said Shannon, who has been in ministry for more than 20 years – but pastoring his church for seven. “We believe God is doing a new thing.”

Following a principle that his church practices, Pastor Anthony Shannon decided to make this change.  “We teach the Bible and in the Bible it says that unless a grain of wheat falls unto the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. Meaning that in order to produce something fruitful, it must die,” he said.  

“So, we’ve pruned the old name – and now we’re expecting abundance with the shift we’re taking.” 

Because of the recent economic decline, Pastor Shannon wants to teach everyone how to be a winner. "I don't care about what you had to overcome, we are going to teach you how to take it to the next level," said Pastor Shannon. 



By offering a comforting, contemporary and vibrant atmosphere, Pastor Shannon welcomes people of all genders, tongues, race and nations. "Everyone wants to know that they matter and we want them to know that they do."

Pastor Shannon and his wife, Glynis, also hope to attract young people to The Victory Church International.

Shannon says although society may scrutinize the younger generation, he still has hope in the youth.  He aims to inspire them by offering opportunities for mentorship, entrepreneurship, and leadership. 

Going forward, Shannon will add a business component to the church. He plans on empowering young and not-so-young people to invest in themselves and the community.

Monday through Friday, the church provides a feeding program for youth 18 years or younger. Pastor Shannon instructs the church members, especially the younger members, to do for others.  “When you have a spirit of servant leadership, you can create your own economy,” said Shannon.
