Service-Minded Summer R. Brown Joins Mason District Hospital Board

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - Aug. 1, 2013 - PRLog -- The Mason District Hospital Board has recently welcomed a new member, Summer R. Brown. An involved community member, Brown has impressive experience in municipal agencies with her recent appointment as the Mason County Clerk, prior experience working as the county’s Election Coordinator for five years, as well as working in the Assessment office.

Brown made the decision to join the Board “because [she] wanted to be a part of something that is so important for our community.” She is heavily involved in community service. Leading the Havana Backpack Program as co-President, Brown assists as the local program members, along with volunteers, raise money and collect food donations that are given to local elementary children in need.

Leading another local organization, sorority Alpha Rho, as current President, Brown gives back to the community through services such as visiting nursing homes, providing scholarships to high school seniors, and donating to nearby charities. She also helps raise money for local children as a four-year St Jude Runner for the Mason City to Peoria team.

Having graduated locally from Havana High School and receiving an education at Spoon River College and Western Illinois University, Brown says, “I am prepared to commit the time and interest it takes to fulfill this position.  I also feel that I can contribute skills and perspective as well as an objective outlook in order to help with all areas of the hospital.” She is looking forward to her role as a member of the Mason District Board, commenting, “I have always felt fortunate to live in a community with a nice hospital that can assist those in need and that supplies jobs to our community.  Knowing how instrumental the hospital is to our stability and growth, I wanted to serve on the Board because our hospital is something I believe in and want to be a part of in making it even more successful…I am truly excited to be a part of the Board and look forward to continuing to serve.”

Mason District Hospital is a rural critical access hospital serving Mason and southern Fulton Counties since 1957. The hospital includes full service Emergency Room, specialty clinics, high-tech diagnostics, and rehabilitation services.
