CLEWISTON, Fla. - July 17, 2013 - PRLog -- U.S. Sugar Corporation offered its sympathy and condolences to the family of John B. Boy upon his recent passing.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Boy’s family and friends,” said Judy Sanchez, senior director of corporate communications and public affairs.  “He was an important part of the history and growth of U.S. Sugar.”

Sanchez said that it was under Boy’s leadership that U.S. Sugar built the Bryant Sugar House in Canal Point and acquired South Bay Growers vegetable and sugarcane operations.

Joining the Company in 1946 as assistant superintendant of the starch processing facility, Boy worked for U.S. Sugar for 41 years, including 17 as its longest serving president to date (from 1970 until his retirement in 1987).

Sanchez said that some of Boy’s lasting contributions came about during his tenure as an engineer in U.S. Sugar’s agricultural equipment shops--many important mechanical advancements in Glades agriculture that are still used today.
