Mixed-Use Complex Designed for the Urban Professional Now Open in Downtown Los Angeles

The Nadel Architects-designed project focuses on contemporary downtown living

July 9, 2013 - PRLog -- Designed by Nadel Architects to highlight the neighborhood’s contemporary character, the $53 million mixed-use complex is now open for rent at 1111 Wilshire Blvd. in Downtown Los Angeles. Located just blocks from the central business district, the building, developed by Holland Partners Group, consists of 210 apartment units, urban recreation amenities, 7,900-square-feet of ground-floor retail space and three levels of subterranean parking.

The building’s rental units range in size from 397 to 1,316 square feet, available in studios and one-, two- and three-bedroom floor plans. The building was designed to include all the amenities of a luxury urban complex, including a large courtyard and a roof deck with barbeques, picnic tables, seating areas and an outdoor spa with vistas of the downtown skyline. The residents will also have access to a state-of-the-art fitness center and a fully-equipped business center.

“The downtown location of this project meant we had to make sure the building’s design stood out as a place urban businesspeople want to live, while still blending with the surrounding commercial buildings,” said Dale Yonkin, project director at Nadel Architects. “This was done, in part, by providing the outdoor space on the roof and opening up the ground floor for retail, which also includes the services residents are looking for in this neighborhood.”

Located on the metro bus line and a half mile from the 7th Street metro rail station on the densely developed Wilshire Boulevard, 1111 Wilshire offers plenty of transportation options, as well as visitor parking for the ground-floor retailers. Additional parking for an adjacent medical office building is included in the development as well.  The vibrant downtown location features upscale restaurants, popular retailers, as well as several nightlife and entertainment options -- and is just blocks from L.A. Live.

In addition to Yonkin, the Nadel Architects team includes Afsaneh Riahi and John Yang, design planners; and Rhoden Skyles, project manager.
