In this interview the family tells the readers more about their unique lifestyle.

Can you tell us about yourselves?

We are a family who have discovered that experiencing the world together is the best way to learn for us and for our kids. So it was very natural that it would soon become our life style, and it has. People often ask us how long we want to stay on the go but we cannot really give a definite answer because we simply want to travel all the time!

What is so special about your travelling?

Moving places and living here and there for a month or two gives us joy and extra strength because we can develop ourselves and our kids can learn too. Travelling for us is a way to offer our children beautiful opportunities to experience things they would probably be only taught at school, although not necessarily. So instead of merely reading or listening about various places, people, customs and traditions they can experience it all by themselves, have the chance to understand the significance of their findings and are highly self-motivated to explore the areas of their interest even further.

The kind of learning that occurs while on the move is very contextualised. Going to Greece, for instance, means that we may visit ancient ruins which nicely links to history, myths and legends but also to geography, landscape, climate and species. Understanding local people's lives, customs and traditions often means looking back in time to find the answers. These are perfect opportunities for children to do some research, analyse the information and then use their reasoning skills. Our children learn from other people, make new friends for life, they learn from local stories, customs, opinions and are able to make their own judgment. They learn by touching, observing, smelling, tasting, trying out, dancing, singing, digging, playing... feeling!

How do you plan your trips?

No plans at all. What is unique about the way we travel as a family is that we never plan where we go. It's easy not to plan because our kids are home schooled so we don't need to wait for holidays.  No matter how strange it may sound we just send our vibrations that we are ready to go out to the world and we simply wait for the positive impulse and the right moment to start packing our bags. If you let go the answers always come.

What is so unique about the way you explore the places you visit?

First of all no package holidays. We hardly ever  book package holidays because more than anything else we appreciate our freedom to explore places and experience things the way we prefer. We usually stay at one place for a month or two. This lets us settle down slowly and when we are ready we start exploring the area or the region at a relaxed pace, bit by bit. Also, the most important thing for us is that we want to live with local people, have local neighbours , make local friends, visit the places that only the locals know they exist, cook with local ingredients and soak in the spirit of the place or the region. This is the only way we want to travel and experience the world with our kids. And we share the adventures we have had so far in our Travel & Learn with Kids'n'Go series which you can find on Amazon and Smashwords.

How do you make sure  your children are safe when you travel?

We always travel as a family which means we have to take all safety precautions to make sure our children are fine at all times. This comes with our experience as we have spent many years assessing  health & safety standards on childcare premises in the UK. However, you definitely need to live in a given country for a while to notice what local health & safety standards are. And they are often very different to what we can expect. So on our way we have learned how to adjust to new, sometimes even shocking conditions, but even as professionals we are often unable to predict things in advance. Definitely when it comes to children's safety we are very sensitive and we must admit that visiting places and spending sufficient time in different countries have helped us see beyond cultures and people. We have learned that we shouldn't expect places to be equally safe and people to understand safety the way we think would be appropriate. We understand now that we need to be flexible to make sure we are doing our best to keep our children safe and respect local people and their customs at the same time. We share this experience, in a form of practical tips and solutions we have tested ourselves, in our series Travel & Learn with Kids'n'Go and Travel & Be Safe with Kids'n'Go.

How do you choose your destinations?

When we book our flights we never know for sure how long are we going to stay there or whether we will move on inland, along the coast or maybe even decide to go totally elsewhere. Even though we sometimes read about the places of destination in advance or browse the internet for the pictures we never take it for granted that they will be appealing enough to stay there. It is all down to vibrations the place emanates and the energy of the people living there  - it all depends on how we feel there.

We often meet people on our way who invite us to their places. So we have stayed in simple tipis and luxurious apartments, at farms and plantations, in busy towns and drowsy villages, in popular touristic resorts and tranquil natural parks. We also like the idea of volunteering in exchange for food and accommodation so we often use the Workaway website to look for interesting destinations that would bring about even more positive experiences for us and our kids. We absolutely love Couchsurfing and we frequently use this community website to move from one place to another. Thanks to their services we did island hopping at the Aegean Sea last summer, moving from Ibiza via Italy to Crete. During this voyage our children had a unique chance to meet beautiful families and they made fantastic friends for life. So when we share our experiences in the Travel & Learn with Kids'n'Go series, you will never read about hotels and resorts simply because we travel otherwise. What you will find there instead is an account of one of its kind adventures that your family can experience too!
