RICHMOND, Va. - June 29, 2013 - PRLog -- Clark Nexsen, the award-winning architecture and engineering firm, announced the recent hire of John A. Stuart, PE, as Transportation Department Head in the Richmond, Virginia office.

“John Stuart will provide leadership to the Clark Nexsen transportation team in Richmond. With more than 24 years of experience, John is ready to provide clients with solutions to a wide array project challenges,” said Chad Poultney, Richmond Managing Principal. “His range of experience includes civil and transportation engineering design, engineering support for environmental documentation studies, hydrologic and hydraulic engineering, storm water management design, and construction phasing.”

Clark Nexsen’s transportation group is dedicated to the design, inspection, and project management of roadway, bridge and infrastructure projects for federal, state, and municipal agencies.

John’s transportation work spans a wide range of interstate, interchange, primary and secondary facilities as well as rural and urban widening and reconstruction, and traffic calming projects.  His most recent experience includes the Route 1/Boulevard Modernization and Dupuy Avenue Modernization projects with the City of Colonial Heights, Volvo/Lynnhaven Parkway in the Cities of Chesapeake and Virginia Beach, and the Route 50 Traffic Calming project in Loudoun and Fauquier Counties.

John has experience in railroad design and roadway and utility construction, having administered the contracts and inspections for roadway construction projects.  He also has four years of management and leadership experience in the U.S. Army.  

John holds a Masters in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering from Virginia Military Institute. John is the Education and Mentoring Chair of the Central Virginia Post Society of American Military Engineers (http://centralva.same.org/), and is currently serving on the Transportation Committee of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Virginia (http://www.acecva.org/). He is a member of the American Society of Highway Engineers, Old Dominion Section (http://www.asherichmond.org/) and Past Chairman of the Richmond Joint Engineers Council (http://www.rjec.org/).
