SACRAMENTO, Calif. - June 21, 2013 - PRLog -- Relocating can be one of the most bothersome situations for a business. Places of work may need to cease business for a few hours or maybe a few working days to complete to move and get all the equipment operational just as before. Furthermore there is the price to consider. Beyond the expense of the boxes, packing materials, plus the moving company, there is also the cost of lost sales revenue through the hours the move is taking place. The easiest method to face these business move challenges, is always to have a very good plan from the start.

Plan far ahead of time. The sooner the planning process is set in motion, the higher a chance there will be for continuing business as usual through the move. First select a primary contact person for the move. This individual will take care of all the specifics of the move internally and work with relocation companies, the moving crew on move day, and assign tasks to office staff. If the individual who sets up the move is different from the individual who will supervise the move on the day of, be certain the moving company is informed of the name and phone number of the person they're going to report to on move day. Also be sure that these two people communicate extensively about what will transpire on move day. It’s vital that anyone involved in the decision making or facilitation of the move is in agreement about how it's going to be accomplished.

Delegate chores to office staff. Ask each employee to load up and move any personal items including framed pictures, small desk fans or heating units, staplers, notepads, business cards, etc. To take it a step further, it is possible to ask each employee to take their own computer with them to the new place of work. This is a great approach to be sure that personal objects are not lost or broken in the shuffle of the move. Other great task for staff members include dismounting all hanging photographs, packing all file cabinets and packing the break room. Set deadlines for jobs to be done so that items are packed and ready to move when the move begins.

Plan the move during non-peak times. If the company is busiest during the summer, avoid moving during the summer if possible. If the business is open from 8-5, Monday through Friday, then consider doing the move over the weekend or in the evening after a work day. Some relocation companies will be flexible on moving during non-business hours. If it’s essential to stop business during regular work hours to complete the move, consider setting up the voicemail to notify customers of the interruption and that all calls will be returned at a set time.

Get reconnected quickly. Before the move, schedule reconnects for all office equipment. Call the printer, computer, internet, phone or electrical technicians to come out as soon as the move is complete. If these technicians are contacted prior to the move, then staff will not be inconvenienced by the lack of internet or phone lines set up come Monday morning.
