Las Vegas Opera News: Introducing La Voce Totale

LAS VEGAS - June 20, 2013 - PRLog -- It's very easy to immediately think of the hit show, the Phantom of the Opera, Venetian Casino's #1 musical, when you hear the words Las Vegas & Opera together. However, this summer that is not the case.

Las Vegas Nevada Opera & Classical music lovers now have a new musical surprise in store! International opera singers Luana Devol, a dramatic soprano and tenor Mark Thomsen, along with pianist and Las Vegas vocal coach, Spencer Baker have created a one of a kind summer music festival for both new and seasoned lovers of Opera, Classical and Musical Theater.

La Voce Totale is a Las Vegas based vocal training and performing program for experienced singers who are looking to gain more exposure and learn new roles to add to their musical repertoire.

Luana DeVol made her Metropolitan Opera debut in April 2007 as Ortrud in Wagner's Lohengrin. The production was broadcast around the world. She has been a featured soloist with the Masterworks Chorale, and has sang in a great variety of choral works, and has appeared with the San Francisco Symphony and the San Francisco Opera.

Tenor Mark Thomsen is an accomplished and versatile singer who enjoys a successful career in the United States and overseas. His performance repertoire includes the history of opera, from Cavalli, Bach, and Mozart, to Puccini, Verdi, and Richard Strauss, and the premieres of operas by composers such as Dominick Argento, Leonard Bernstein, Carlyle Floyd and Lowell Liebermann.

Spencer Baker is a Las Vegas musician and piano teacher. He has been the musical director for several critically acclaimed Off-Broadway shows in Las Vegas. He performs regularly as a choral, operatic, chamber and ballet collaborative pianist and serves as a church organist and musical director for the Nevada Ballet Theater at the Smith Center.
