Free Infant Massage Workshop at Melrose Park Library

MELROSE PARK, Ill. - June 19, 2013 - PRLog -- Join us on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at the Melrose Park Library (located at 801 Broadway Ave., Melrose Park, IL 60160) from 6pm-7:30pm for a FREE Infant Massage Workshop.

Baby massage is fantastic, not just for baby, but for mothers as well. One of the best ways to bond with your baby is through gentle, loving touch.  Research has shown that massages can help babies sleep better, alleviate colic, and aid in their emotional as well as physical development. By giving their babies massages, moms can help ward off postpartum depression and generally feel better and more relaxed in spite of the sleep deprivation and stress that accompanies the birth of a newborn. In this class, we will cover some of the basics of infant massage such as when is a good time to massage your baby and what oil is safe to use on your baby's skin. Luisa Berardi Caraballo, a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist, will teach you an easy massage routine that will benefit your baby and you alike. A handout of the techniques you will learn will be provided.
All caregivers are welcome: Mothers, Fathers, Grandparents, Sitters, etc. Expecting parents are also welcome. Please bring your baby or a doll to practice techniques, a pillow, and a toy for the baby to play with. Pre-registration is required.

Taller de masaje infantil GRATIS en Biblioteca de Melrose Park

Masaje del bebé es fantástico, no sólo para el bebé, sino para las madres también. Una de las mejores formas de relacionarse con su bebé es a través del tacto suave y amoroso. Investigaciones han demostrado que los masajes pueden ayudar a los bebés a dormir mejor, aliviar cólicos y ayuda en su desarrollo físico y emocional. Dando masajes a su bebé, las mamás pueden ayudar a prevenir la depresión posparto y en general se sienten mejor y más relajadas a pesar de la falta de sueño y el estrés que acompaña el nacimiento de un recién nacido. En esta clase vamos a cubrir algunos de los fundamentos del masaje infantil, cuando es un buen momento para dar masajes a su bebé y qué aceites son seguros para usar en la piel del bebé. Luisa Berardi Caraballo, terapeuta certificada a nivel nacional, les enseñará una rutina de masaje fácil que le beneficiara a su bebé y a usted por igual. Folletos de las técnicas que aprenderá serán proporcionadas en el taller.

Todos los cuidadores son bienvenidos: madres, padres, abuelos, niñeras, etc. Los padres que esperan también son bienvenidos. Por favor traiga a su bebé o un muñeco para practicar técnicas, una almohada y un juguete para el bebé jugar. La clase será dada en Inglés y Español. Se requiere pre-inscripción.
