ASLI staffer, Brian Ambrose, of Baltimore attended a sign language interpreter conference in April. “I was at Street Leverage Live and there was a suggestion there that interpreters sponsor a Deaf attendee at RID’s national conference.” The first awardee for 2013 is Ruth Ann Schornstein, a Certified Deaf Interpreter ( CDI ) from Maryland. Applicants must submit a letter of interest including biographical information and provide reasons why they should be considered. American Sign Language, Inc. (ASLI), provides visual communication solutions in the Northeast and Mid Atlantic regions of the United States. Incorporated in 1994, ASLI has has provided hundreds of thousands of hours of sign language interpretation and transcription services. ASLI is an organizational member of the RID; an approved sponsor in the Continuing Maintenance Program (CMP) qualified and has membership in the local RID chapters of New York City, Maryland and New Jersey, as well as a membership in the local Associations of the Deaf in Maryland (MDAD) and New York (ESAD).
