ITEX In San Diego Presents Gene Locklear – Artist and MLB Veteran

ITEX in San Diego (http://www.itexinsandiego.com) presents Gene Locklear, professional baseball player (with the Padres, Reds and Yankees) and internationally known artist at the monthly "Baseball and Networking" meeting that supports the "The Greatest Save" charity fundraising event.

In addition to discussing his artwork and how his baseball career has evolved into a career as an artist, Gene and other baseball veterans will be talking trash about the game. Even though Gene concedes his two passions are quite different, he is convinced that baseball and painting have much in common. “They are both individual pursuits and you have to have talent. You can’t just have desire.”

A Native American, Gene helped to break down Baseball’s racial barriers by becoming the first member of the Lumbee tribe to play professional sports and was one of only about two dozen Native Americans to play baseball in the majors.
