ASHLAND, Mass. - May 21, 2013 - PRLog -- The Ashland Business Association (http://www.ashlandfirst.com/) (ABA) will present online calculators and zoning on its June 4 program at the Ashland Library Community Room, 66 Front Street. Refreshments are provided. New and lapsed members can join at the meeting and through August for just $50 (a $25 savings off the annual membership fee) as part of the Sizzling Summer Membership Special.

The June 4 program starts with early networking, 6:30 pm – 7:00 pm; the meeting runs from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm. Refreshments are provided by the ABA.

On the program is Ed Furey of CalculatorSoup.com. Furey will give an overview of and the many uses for his free, online calculators.  He has developed over 250 calculators that anyone can access for personal use or that business can use free on their web sites.  According to Furey, “You or your customers can figure out mortgages, car or loan payments and print amortization schedules; do sales-related calculations; perform time value of money calculations; calculate time cards and create time reports, and more.  Your kids will be interested in algebra, math and statistics calculators that save them work in solving problems. New desktop and mobile web sites will be live by June 1, 2013.”

Also on the June 4 program will be an interactive discussion with Nat Strosberg, Ashland Planning Director, and John Dudley, Ashland Planning Board and Zoning Review Committee, which is looking to improve Ashland’s downtown zoning and other areas of town.  The review committee is proposing changes to the zoning regulations, such as combining several downtown zoning districts into one district and changing some residential areas along Rt. 135 to light commercial.

Strosberg and Dudley are asking ABA members to bring their questions and suggestions to the June meeting. Some questions they plan to ask are: Have businesses had problems with current zoning? Have they prevented you from being able to expand or operate with the current zoning?

ABA meetings are open to all business owners, executives, and managers with a business, office or residence in Ashland. Businesses are encouraged to join the ABA in order to take full advantage of the programs and business opportunities.

Meeting dates for the remainder of 2013 are Augsut 6, October 1 and December 3 (annual holiday party).

The ABA maintains the go-to portal, www.AshlandFirst.com, for Ashland businesses and area consumers looking for services and products and a Facebook page, www.facebook.com/AshlandBusinessAssociation, for businesses and consumers to engage.
