PipeMarker.com Plants Trees for New Earth Day Promotion

GARFIELD, N.J. - May 20, 2013 - PRLog -- In the month of April, PipeMarker.com, manufacturers of pipe marking identification products and a division of Brimar Industries, ran an unconventional promotion to celebrate Earth Day. In conjunction with a catalogue wide 10% discount, PipeMarker.com had agreed to plant a tree for every purchase over $1,200. The trees were to be planted by Brimar’s Director of Sales and Marketing, Raymond Batkay.

Based on the success of the promotion, Brimar is coordinating with local agencies and plans to make good on that promise in late May. “Sustainability is at the forefront of all modern business,” Batkay said. “We are making sincere efforts to promote a better planet and better sense of community.” Batkay admits that “our industry is not one that is traditionally associated with modern sustainability efforts, but our greater conscience and commitment to our community at large is laced in just about everything we do. It’s as small as replacing the paper cups at the water cooler and issuing everyone their own personal cups. It’s one step at a time, and in this instance, it’s one tree at a time.”

Batkay had hatched the plan as a way to give back to his community while spending quality time with his children. “Leadership, whether within the confines of business or in an institution as intimate as your family, begins with leading by example. At Brimar, we lead by example in just about every category in the industry. From customer service to manufacturing, we’re constantly looking to improve and that passion for improvement isn’t confined inside the walls of the corporate office and manufacturing plant.”

He went on to cite some of Brimar’s other volunteer efforts. “The management of this company believes that leadership just doesn’t begin and end at the ring of the cash register. We believe in participating in the community. Whether it’s the President’s [Brian Costello] involvement with the local YMCA, or my involvement in the American Legion, I’d venture to say about 20% of the employees here consistently volunteer at their churches and in their communities. The concept of corporate citizenship and individual social responsibility are alive and well in Northern New Jersey, whether it’s articulated in an official manner or not.”

“If I can get my kids off their iPads and phones for an hour or so and plant a few trees, it’s a win/win for me. The way I see it, what better way to spend some quality time with my family then to give back to the public.”
