Australian Fashion Initiative Helps ‘Break the Cycle’ in Uganda

O’shirt, an awareness and fundraising platform for great causes, have launched their latest t-shirt that teams up with Sydney based designer, Galina, and School for Life, a Ugandan charity that provides high quality education to the less fortunate.

BRISBANE, Australia - May 14, 2013 - PRLog -- Brisbane, Queensland, 13 May 2013 – O’Shirt has added School for Life (SFL) to the ranks of their world-class charities that they support with their t-shirt fundraising program. Each fortnight O’Shirt selects a special designer to create a tee that embodies the cause that has been chosen for the campaign, with $7 of every shirt sold going towards the charity of choice.

School for Life Foundation (SFL) is a non-government organisation focused on providing high quality education in rural and disadvantaged areas of Uganda. SFL is not religiously or politically affiliated.

Essentially, SFL aims to break the cycle of poverty by creating a domino effect – every student will have a positive impact not only upon the wider community but also future generations.

“I grew up in Botswana, Africa and received a scholarship which really changed the direction of my life. For those growing up in poverty, education can be the key to unlocking their potential, breaking them free from the cycle of poverty,” Ryan Williams, co-founder of O’Shirt, says.

For this campaign O’Shirt has teamed up with Sydney based designer and typographer, Galina Dixon. Passionate about using her creativity to make a difference, Galina was approached to design a shirt in support of breaking the cycle of poverty in Uganda through education and the establishment of primary schools for destitute children. The result is entitled the ‘Dreamer’ tee.

“I used a white ribbon to represent a child’s purity and innocence. A pile of ribbon on the floor has no purpose, but with a little imagination it can become something meaningful. No dream is ever too small, and no dream is ever too big. To accomplish great things, we must not only dream, but act. And sometimes the smallest act can make the biggest difference,” says Galina about her O’Shirt design.

You can donate to the cause on O’Shirt’s website. And of course, you can pick up your ‘Dreamer’ O’Shirt that supports the cause every time you wear it as well as donates $7 to the cause.
