MIAMI - May 10, 2013 - PRLog -- Vinny Furlani, experienced boxer trained by Olympic Gold Medalist and Heavyweight champ Floyd Patterson, is now featuring old-school boxing techniques with a fresh twist in the new Art of Boxing mobile magazine.  Divulging key tips, his 10-Point Strategic Boxing System is now revealed in Art of Boxing, the premiere boxing source for boxing fans and fighters of all levels. The MobileMag is now available for subscription through http://www.artofboxingmag.com.

Furlani attests that boxing was once one of the most popular sports in America. However, the scarcity of captivating and experienced heavyweight world champions has hindered perceptions of the sport.

“Boxing didn’t get bad in the heavyweight division because fans stopped watching; fans stopped watching because boxing became bad,” Furlani said. When referencing  ‘bad boxing’, Furlani signals the neglect of classic form and techniques, which were once the highlight of the sport and are now rarely used by present-day fighters.

Vinny’s training experience stems from a long line of boxing greats. His early trainer, Floyd Patterson, learned from the iconic Cus DeMato, who lead the team that also trained boxing legend Mike Tyson, the youngest fighter to win a heavyweight medal. “The way I was taught, boxers were to always move and keep their heads up; always throw punches; and always stay on their toes… That was something worth watching,” Furlani said.

However, boxing is not dead, Furlani said. Today, there are still more Google searches on boxing-related terms than MMA and Mixed Martial Arts combined. The 10-Point Strategic Boxing System is driven by Furlani’s dedication and passion for boxing and believes that resurrecting old-school boxing techniques will improve fighters’ performance. Found in Art of Boxing magazine in Vinny’s Corner section, each month, readers can now gain insight into bits of the revolutionary system that has been validated by Tracy Harris-Patterson, former boxer and world champion of two weights.

“When a fighter excels at each of the points in the 10 point system, he becomes a fighter that has unlimited potential (…) The 10 point system is probably the most valuable tool a fighter can have,” Patterson stated.

Late in 1988, Furlani was on the undercard of his then roommate and sparring partner, Tracy Harris-Patterson. Furlani participated in Patterson’s corner on his path to Featherweight and Junior Lightweight World Champion. “I recently discussed with Vinny his 10 point strategic boxing game plan - the best trainers understand the methodology in his plan, yet the way he [Vinny] explains it brings the science of the sport to life,” Patterson continued.

The first issue of Art of Boxing magazine includes a feature on Mike Tyson in the, “Where Are They Now?” section. Burt Sugar, renowned boxing writer and sports historian (June 7, 1937 – March 25, 2012) uncovers Tyson’s achievements through the decades in which he provided expert coverage of boxing.

The highly awaited Boxing Nutrition Secrets section is also featured in Art of Boxing magazine. It includes a detailed Boxing Calendar and at-your-fingertips Boxing Ranking, all elements included in each month’s issue. This magazine builds fans’ familiarity with the sport through informative and entertaining sections as well as helps those actively pursuing boxing to take their skills to the next level.
