Local favorite, John Vessels, June 11 through 16 at BIG ARTS Herb Strauss Theater

SANIBEL ISLAND, Fla. - May 6, 2013 - PRLog -- BIG ARTS will be presenting two musical shows featuring local favorite, John Vessels, June 11 through 16 at Herb Strauss Theater. These original shows The Lillian Baxter Show and An Evening with John Vessels are filled with songs delivered by this accomplished singer who has performed in several national musical productions.

John Vessels is Hollywood’s favorite has-been: Lillian Baxter! From her early days at MGM to her short but fruitful television career on such hit shows as The Thrifty Vittles Happy-Time Song Hour, Life with Maureen, and The Lillian Baxter Show, Ms. Baxter will sing the songs and tell the stories of her long, arduous climb to the middle. Along for the ride on this musical romp down memory lane is Lillian’s faithful accompanist, international playboy and favorite ex-husband, Corky Weinstopper (played by Jay Schwandt). You simply cannot miss this delightful comedy-cabaret-memoir of the greatest star nobody’s ever heard of—so come share An Evening with Lillian Baxter! Show starts at 8 p.m., June 11 through 13.

John Vessels has been performing all around the country in theater and musicals, comedies and dramas, school plays and home movies (he ain’t proud)—and now he’s back in Southwest Florida to sing a song or two and to tell folks what he’s been up to for the last near-decade. An alumnus of Sanibel’s Old Schoolhouse Theater in such hits as Forever Plaid, Run for Your Wife, The Big Bang, Swing Sisters, Lend Me a Tenor, and a whole bunch of Ho! Ho! Ho! the Christmas Shows, Vessels has written this cabaret—featuring accompanist and arranger, Jay Schwandt—just for you. Aside from appearing in the title role of U.S. National Tour of Snoopy! The Musical, Vessels has performed in concerts, operas, oratorios, cabarets, musical theater, theater, musical revues, readings, and recordings.
