Twitter concert to promote @ReallyBigChorus #GandSGala Sunday 12th May

Join us online @ReallyBigChorus from Friday 3rd May for an 8 day Twitter “concert” promoting The Really Big Chorus Gilbert & Sullivan Gala at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 12th May 7.30pm.

SOUTH KENSINGTON, U.K. - April 29, 2013 - PRLog -- We'll be posting two daily performances from You Tube of choruses that feature in the real concert. As you sit down to your desk or breakfast table, our first showing is at 9.00am, followed by a commute-home-cum-teatime performance at 6.30pm. The series will run until Friday 10th May. Join in the fun using #GandSGala.

The "real" concert:

With a sparkling programme compiled by our Principal Conductor Brian Kay and Robin Wilson—two of the genre’s keenest advocates—the concert is guaranteed to have you humming along or tapping your feet in time. It showcases many of the best-loved numbers from The Mikado, The Pirates of Penzance, Iolanthe, The Gondoliers and more, and features the incomparable talents of Simon Butteriss and Leon Berger.

Where else, in just one concert, could you hear the best tunes from seven of these brilliantly entertaining works? Our two star soloists will be joined by Daisy Brown (soprano), Katie Slater (mezzo) and Nicholas Scott (tenor) who captivated audiences at last year’s Buxton International Festival, so an evening of first-class music-making is assured. Furthermore, all proceeds from programme sales, advertising and sponsorship at this concert will go directly to the British Heart Foundation.

The English Festival Orchestra accompanies.

Audience tickets (from the Royal Albert Hall Box Office 0845 401 5034):  £16.00, £20.00, £26.00, £31.00, £42.00

Notes for editors

TRBC is the UK’s largest choral society with around 12,000 singing members. It began life  in 1974 when Canadian Don Monro, a student at Imperial College, got together with fellow scientists to hire the Royal Albert Hall and fill it with amateur singers for the very first Messiah from Scratch®:  no rehearsal at all for the chorus, just an electrifying, adrenaline-filled performance. Our other RAH concerts in May and July (‘the last night before the Proms’) have rehearsals on the day, and TRBC also organises singing breaks to prestige overseas venues, and relaxing choral cruises.
