Southern Fried DNN 2013: Where DotNetNuke and Fried Chicken Collide

April 16, 2013 - PRLog -- If you spent last Saturday roaming the aisles of Lowes or helping an in-law move, we feel sorry for you because that means you missed out on Charlotte’s epic spin on A Day of DotNetNuke -- Southern Fried DNN!  Nearly 200 visitors graced the conference, traveling from areas around the globe, including Australia and Peru, to explore the ever-growing open source platform, DotNetNuke.  This year’s theme reflected good ol’ southern hospitality, as guests were treated to sweet tea, cow bells and, of course, fried chicken.

The two-day event, held at UNCC Center City Campus in Uptown Charlotte, kicked off Friday with a series of training sessions.  DotNetNuke enthusiasts from around the region hosted educational, hands-on training for attendees, with topics ranging from development to skinning.   This aspect of the conference was a pilot for the Charlotte event, initiated by popular demand, and received rave reviews by those who took advantage of the pre-conference addition.

Day two began with a welcome and keynote delivered by Will Strohl, Sales Engineering & Training Manager, and Evangelist for DotNetNuke Corporation.   Strohl was the original architect of the Day of DotNetnuke, and helped the QCDUG celebrate the 5th anniversary of the event.  As the day progressed, the halls were buzzing with excitement brought by each presenter and the inspiration of the new knowledge shared.   DotNetNuke gurus led discussions, ranging from best practices to specific feature demonstrations, while some sessions featured DNN co-founders and staffers, highlighting new innovations to the platform.

At the conference’s closing, a select group of individuals presented ignite sessions, including Logical Advantage’s CTO, Dan Thyer.  Thyer’s passion for DNN was spurred by a single moment in his career--the moment that changed it, the moment that created Logical Advantage.  You see, it was a single presentation given by Thyer on using DNN at an association meeting that gained him his first client. This kind of experience was relatable for each person in the auditorium.  They were not at Southern Fried DNN because their boss required them to be, or to add another bullet point to their LinkedIn profile; they were there because DNN, has, at some point, inspired them.  And to that, we say, YEE HAW.

Upon reading this article, we understand how bummed you must be to have missed the event, but don’t worry.  Logical Advantage always has you covered.  Be sure to sign up for LA News (http://www.logicaladvantage.com) get the first glimpse into the recap video that will be released this week!  You can also check out the real time updates on our Twitter page, or view photos from the event by liking us on Facebook!
