Pixmnemonix Offers A Unique Password Manager App To Help People Remember Their Passwords

NEW YORK - March 29, 2013 - PRLog -- PixMnemonix announced today the launch of a new App for iPhone, iPad and Android users.  PixMnemonix is a password manager that educates users about creating strong passwords.  It also helps users to store and recall their passwords in a safe manner.  Unlike other password managers, PixMnemonix avoids storing actual passwords and hence eliminates any possibility of password theft or compromise.  

PixMnemonix uses a memory device called “visual mnemonics.”  With the App, users store images on their device which are personally chosen by them.  The images have unique associations to the user which can help trigger a user's memory of a pass-phrase that becomes the basis of a password.   The password itself is never typed in or disclosed.

Here is how it works:

·         Users create a phrase to remember a password, or create a password based on a phrase that means something to them (and nobody else).
·         Deconstruct the phrase to something usable.   Example:  “Timmy and Tommy were my first dogs” could become “T&Twm1D” using the first letter of each word; this is is a strong password.  
·         Next use a combination of pictures – e.g., pictures of Tim Robbins & Tom Cruise, and another of a runner finishing first - to help recall the phrase.
·         Embellish the phrase by using LEET characters.

PixMnemonix allows users to add images with the camera on their device.  There is also a LEET table, which is an alternative alphabet table for the English language and can help make passwords more secure.
