Southend Building Products is Now Southend Reclaimed

Charlotte-based leader in reclaimed materials launches new name with same people, same products.

March 27, 2013 - PRLog -- Southend Building Products announces their recent name change to Southend Reclaimed as a strategic move that better reflects the company’s status as one of the largest volume providers of antique wood in the country. “Southend Reclaimed is a change in name only,” according to Marketing Director, Elizabeth Semple, “the same people are offering the same quality products and service we have become known for.”

Since 2001, Southend Building Products has grown from a small company providing a variety of building products to customers along the east coast to a national leader and expert in reclaimed materials. “Our inventory is unmatched in volume and quality,” states current President and CEO, Paul Atkinson. “The combination of our vast inventory of antique wood coupled with the highly skilled craftsmanship in our millworks division allows us to stand out in the reclaimed arena,” says Atkinson.

After joining Southend in 2005, Atkinson, a Wilmington, NC native, led the company’s growth and development by expanding inventory and instilling a customer-first approach that Southend Reclaimed is known for today. In 2012, he oversaw the acquisition of the antique wood manufacturing company, Scotland Neck Heart Pine, which now serves as Southend Reclaimed’s millworks division. In addition to the vast selection of reclaimed raw materials, Southend Reclaimed also offers numerous processed reclaimed products such as flooring from species such as Antique Oak, Wormy Chestnut and Antique Heart Pine. CFO Michael Harmon adds, “What Paul has done for Southend has been to fine-tune the operation based on the vision and passion for providing reclaimed materials with an emphasis on putting integrity first and foremost. With this company culture we have been able to emerge as a leader in the reclaimed industry, which naturally led to the name change.”

Southend Reclaimed and southendreclaimed.com, based in Charlotte, NC, has been acquiring obsolete textile mills and barns since 2001 and is one of the largest wholesale suppliers of reclaimed wood in the United States with over 2 million board feet available. Southend also offers a variety of antique brick, reclaimed wide-plank flooring in many species, custom manufactured timber-frame systems, beams, stair parts and custom-made reclaimed furniture.
