Follow on Google News | Land Rover is Working on Developing a Smaller SUV for the Coming YearsLand Rover is looking to widen the brand’s appeal with a more compact offering.
By: Motor Werks Land Rover A small SUV is of course a departure for the esteemed manufacturer of luxury SUVs, which only recently launched the fully redesigned 2013 Range Rover, and just announced the 2014 Range Rover Sport, which will be shown off at the 2013 New York Auto Show. Land Rover vehicles are known for their size, their opulence, and, perhaps most notably, their impressive off-road prowess. Details on the as-yet unannounced small SUV are scarce at this point. What is known is that it’s expected to compete directly with the MINI Countryman, a popular small crossover. The entry-level model of the new SUV will likely come equipped with a 2.0L engine made by Tata Motors and Chery. The expectation is that the vehicle will be primarily aimed at emerging markets such as India — where it will be produced — but it seems likely that it will eventually be offered in some form in both Europe and North America. One thing that many drivers will be left wondering for a while is exactly how capable the new vehicle will be. Given that it will almost certainly be the smallest vehicle in the Land Rover lineup, it’s extremely likely that efficiency will be an area of focus, which could mean that, like the new 2013 Range Rover (http://www.landroverhoffman.com/ No matter what form the mysterious small SUV that’s in the works takes, it’s sure to offer the versatility and opulence that drivers have come to expect of Land Rover vehicles.
