Miami 's luxury real estate market has soured to the No. 8 spot among the top international locations, sited from a Christie's International Real Estate report.

Miami - Dade had a high percentage of second home buyers, cash buyers, and foreign and other non - local buyers.  

The most expensive home sold in Miami in 2012 was the extraordinary bay front estate at 3 Indian Creek Island, in Indian Creek Village. The property sold for a record setting $47 million.  

This 10 bedroom, 14 bathroom property was sold to an undisclosed Russian buyer.

There continues to be a strong interest from the South American buyers. Miami had both a high percentage in the international, secondary and additional home buyers.

Miami luxury homes are still advantageous. In 2012, residences in Miami listed at more than $1 million; the average was $764 per square foot. The record price in Miami was $3,463 per square foot.
