BARRINGTON, Ill. - March 18, 2013 - PRLog -- The team at Motor Werks of Barrington (http://www.motorwerksmercedes.com/index.htm) is looking forward to the innovative features in the next generation of the COMAND® online system. Mercedes-Benz is currently developing an integrated wireless infrastructure that should give drivers the ability to see traffic updates in real time relayed from a variety of sensors and cameras placed on the roadways. It will also be able to provide navigation functionality and help drivers avoid problem areas like construction.

Mercedes-Benz is currently working with Deutsche Telekom on making this technology possible. The COMAND® system will communicate with other devices using M2M — or Machine-to-Machine — SIM chips inside the vehicle. This new system will also be able to automatically alert authorities in the event of an accident. The Mercedes-Benz Emergency Call system will notify the Mercedes-Benz Emergency Call Center by itself if an airbag is triggered, and emergency response will be dispatched directly to the site of the accident using GPS technology. The newest features, including the wireless infrastructure, are being developed in Germany now, and will probably be available in the United States in the near future.

Mercedes-Benz announced that other new applications will be available soon, including TuneIn internet radio, the HRS Hotelfinder, news, and national travel information apps — all for free.

The current COMAND® system, which is available in most new Mercedes-Benz vehicles (http://www.motorwerksmercedes.com/new-inventory/index.htm), includes an array of media options, including AM/FM radio, SiriusXM, USB, iPod, Bluetooth Audio, SD card, analog auxiliary, a 10GB hard drive, and a DVD player. It also integrates handsfree calling and texting using Bluetooth® and an optional subscription service called Mercedes-Benz apps, which gives you access to useful services like Yelp, Google Local Search, and Facebook. Turn-by-turn navigation and easy route planning is also available. All of these features are easily navigable with the unique COMAND® interface.

Visit Motor Werks of Barrington to have a chance to use the current COMAND® infotainment system. Motor Werks of Barrington is a full-service Mercedes-Benz dealership serving the great Chicago area; they’re located at 1475 S Barrington Road in Barrington, IL (http://www.motorwerksmercedes.com/dealership/directions.htm).
