Follow on Google News | Mercedes-Benz Adds Impressive Features to the COMAND® SystemIn the future, COMAND®-equipped vehicles will give drivers access to real-time traffic information.
By: Motor Werks Mercedes-Benz of Barrington Mercedes-Benz is currently working with Deutsche Telekom on making this technology possible. The COMAND® system will communicate with other devices using M2M — or Machine-to-Machine — SIM chips inside the vehicle. This new system will also be able to automatically alert authorities in the event of an accident. The Mercedes-Benz Emergency Call system will notify the Mercedes-Benz Emergency Call Center by itself if an airbag is triggered, and emergency response will be dispatched directly to the site of the accident using GPS technology. The newest features, including the wireless infrastructure, are being developed in Germany now, and will probably be available in the United States in the near future. Mercedes-Benz announced that other new applications will be available soon, including TuneIn internet radio, the HRS Hotelfinder, news, and national travel information apps — all for free.
