TORONTO - March 18, 2013 - PRLog -- Andrew Hiddleston, known for his keen observation and a successful businessman himself, talks about teams and having effective people do the business. In LeanMeanMarketing’s latest business video news, he clarifies the concept of the real meaning having an “amazing” team.

Hiddleston begins by sharing his experience during the very first months he started to do his business online, “I have survived by myself with one diligent personal assistant and a series of contract workers that would work on a part-time basis when we needed them for the work. I survived like that for many years, no problem. But over the last several months I've decided to massively scale my own businesses so I've built a primary team and a secondary team that supports that primary team.”

The business grew rapidly so he needed to employ a number of people. The questions he was asked were:

How do you manage all these people?
How would you know if people are getting work done?
What do you do and what would you do?

He shares, “One of the funny things that I've heard especially in the last few weeks that we've been helping a couple of customers finish websites and do a little bit of SEO work is that they have hired one person or even just a part-time person and that went horribly wrong. If that went bad with one person, they can't even imagine having a group of people.”

Andrew Hiddleston advises, “The way I look at it: Number one, your interviewing process is key. You have to be able to identify the good workers from the problem children right off the bat. I mean, you have to be able to pick those people out and not hire them to begin with. That's really the key to everything. Our recruitment process is actually quite complex in that it works in 3 stages. We never hire someone just off of a posting; they always have to prove themselves with both a portfolio and then an actual live test to prove those skills. Doing that helps you weed out a lot of the people who just blatantly fabricate their resumes or their postings.”

He continues, “Once they join your team and you have a team, that's just it. You have to remember that even if you only have one person, you're a team; and that's key. My group, I mean, we're a team. I'm a member of that team just like they're all a member of that team. They work with me and we work together. I truly look at it that way. I think having a mindset like that, a team-oriented mindset is the difference and that makes people want to work for you and want to work on the team. It makes people want to work hard.”

He shares his very secret in having an amazing team on his league of professionals, “Another extremely important component of an efficient team is good and open communication. People have to be free to speak their mind and be comfortable knowing that if they voice their opinion they are not going to get yelled at or that there's not going to be some backlash. People have to be able to express themselves, express concerns, but more importantly, express ideas. You have to be able to make that clear that that's fine and you have to accept that when someone does.”

“For my own personal group, we talk every single day because I actually look forward to speaking with them. I care what they do on the weekends, I care about their families, and I care that they're doing okay, and I genuinely do. It makes communication, it makes working together, and it makes the team dynamic so much smoother. I can tell you right now that this group works on my most important sites, I mean, they're not working on periphery sites or stuff in my business away from the important stuff. They work on the things that generate all of my income for me. I have no issues with that because again, they're highly trained and they're a trusted group. If you hire properly and you keep communication open and you target the right people, you too can get the same kind of results.”
