Winnetka IL Appliance Repair Gurus Provide Simple Things To Check Before Calling For Service

Take a good look and check the obvious before calling the appliance repair technician.

WINNETKA, Ill. - March 15, 2013 - PRLog -- Winnetka, Illinois – Murphy's Law seems to apply when an appliance breaks down. While it is rarely a convenient time for an appliance repair, it is the most inconvenient times we remember.

James Dolbeare is the owner of AAA Appliance Service Center®, a firm providing residential and commercial appliance repair in Winnetka and other Chicago suburbs.

During a recent interview, James provided some troubleshooting tips for consumers. "Rather than pay for a service call just to have us plug the unit in or reset a circuit breaker, check your power supply if the appliance is not working at all. Though this sounds quite obvious, it is often overlooked and people are embarrassed when we simply plug the appliance in."

James offered some tips for troubleshooting the washing machine and clothes dryer. "Check the power supply first for all appliance issues. For the washer, make sure the lid is closed properly, the timer and all controls are set properly and both water faucets are on. Avoid overloading the machine."

"If clothes are not getting dry after a normal cycle in the dryer then there could be an air flow problem. Make sure the dryer is not pushed back against the rear exhaust duct, blocking air flow. Clean dryer vents to remove lint build-up and avoid overloading the machine."

James also advises consumers to check the manual that comes with the appliance because most of them will have a troubleshooting section.
