Wema Bank becomes first Nigerian Bank on MoneyGram's innovative AGENTWORKS Payment Technology

Wema Bank, Nigeria's most resilient bank and oldest indigenous lender, recently became the 1st bank in Nigeria and second in West Africa to launch MoneyGram's latest payment technology, AgentWorks, across its branch network
 
March 7, 2013 - PRLog -- LAGOS, Nigeria - Wema Bank, Nigeria’s most resilient bank has once again, demonstrated its commitment to providing faster, efficient, innovative IT-backed services to clients with its recent implementation of MoneyGram’s latest payment platform, AgentWorks ®. With this implementation, Wema Bank becomes the first organization in Nigeria and the 2nd in West Africa to fully implement MoneyGram’s latest solution across all its service locations. This was made known during a visit by MoneyGram International representatives to the Bank.

AgentWorks ® is the latest upgrade to the MoneyGram money transfer platform that provides for better security of funds and transactions, quicker authentication and a more efficient service delivery on the MoneyGram network.

Speaking on this partnership during the meeting with MoneyGram representatives, Akinlolu Ayileka, Divisional Head, Retail Banking at Wema Bank reiterated Wema Bank’s commitment to providing the best-in-class retail banking experience for its numerous clients. He also stated that it was the bank’s desire to be at the fore-front of the innovative use of technology to deliver exceptional banking services as was also recently demonstrated in being the first sub-saharan Bank to deploy Finacle 10.2 Core-Banking Application which has also aided the integration of other value-adding services.

In his response, the MoneyGram Regional Director for Africa, Francois  Peyret accompanied by by Stephanie Duba, MoneyGram Marketing Manager for African Diaspora and Kemi Okusanya, MoneyGram Business Manager for Anglophone West Africa, praised the spirit of the partnership between MoneyGram and Wema Bank and expressed MoneyGram’s confidence in Wema Bank’s ability to deploy the solution properly and provide top-notch service to MoneyGram recipients in Nigeria.
