An Important Announcement Regarding Sequestration

March 4, 2013 - PRLog -- As of today, the government’s planned across-the-board budget cuts known as sequestration have gone into effect. While there is still much unknown about how and when the impact of these cuts will be felt, we are giving serious consideration to the possibility that there could be occasional to frequent disruption to the flow of business, particularly with regard to our ability to meet scheduled delivery dates. The impending cuts to the FAA budget are predicted to result in substantial furloughs for air traffic controllers. The FAA says it can’t avoid air traffic controller furloughs, resulting in delayed and cancelled flights. Our primary concern is the effect that the FAA furloughs will have on our primary carriers, (UPS and Fed-EX) and their ability to maintain their scheduled delivery service.

We see the best, and perhaps only tactic that we can employ to mitigate the impact to our customers as the effects of sequestration unfolds, is frequent and accurate communication across our supply chain. We are not in a position to control how the coming months will impede our ability to deliver according to schedule; however, what we can ensure is that we avoid surprising our customers by providing them with accurate and timely information to minimize disruption to their production schedules.

To this end we have been, and will continue to monitor the situation, following the most relevant news sources and keeping in close contact with our carrier’s customer reps and our supply base. Our sales team will be providing direct information to their respective purchasing communities, keeping them apprised, as rapidly and fluidly as possible, if and when delivery shifts occur. Additionally, we will be using our web site and social media to maintain an informational channel to provide updates to the situation as it pertains to our specific business environment.

With the crucial deadline now past and with each day promising to bring further negative result to business and the economy, it is our hope that our elected officials come to a reasoned and practical approach to this situation, one that addresses the real budgetary challenges facing our country and also acknowledges that the costs of ongoing incalcitrance and inactivity for political gain will be felt primarily in the incomes of businesses and households both large and small.
