Global footwear brand ECCO is delighted to announce it is now the official footwear partner of The O2 and its latest attraction, Up at The O2.
Launched in June 2012 Up at The O2 has welcomed more than 60,000 visitors. In 2013 an impressive 200,000 people are expected to enjoy Up at The O2. The experience begins with a briefing for visitors who are provided with climb suits, ECCO performance shoes and a harness in preparation for their ascent. They are then taken by trained guides in groups of 15 for a 90-minute expedition along a tensile fabric walkway suspended 53m above ground level, which culminates with customers reaching a viewing platform in the centre of The O2’s roof.
Erik Heldoorn, general manager for ECCO West: “Our relationship is far more meaningful than a conventional sponsorship arrangement. While this unique partnership represents excellent value for ECCO it is more than that - it is a true partnership between two brands who are both highly successful on the global stage, and whose strengths and ambitions complement each other perfectly.”
Rebecca Kane, general manager for The O2 added: “We are delighted to welcome ECCO as our official footwear partner for The O2, and specifically Up at The O2. The global footwear brand is a welcome addition to our growing list of high profile partners at the venue. The partnership reflects the phenomenal success of Up at The O2 in its first seven months of operation and we are very much looking forward to developing a number of strategic initiatives over the coming months. Most importantly we are excited that visitors to Up at The O2 will be wearing the best of ECCO’s footwear when they climb the roof.”
The ‘Power your climb with ECCO’ campaign will include outdoor, indoor and online advertising at The O2 and Up at The O2. The partnership will also include mutual discount benefits for both ECCO and customers of The O2 during the partnership period.
Scott Otte, EMEA Marketing Manager at ECCO said: “ECCO believes the partnership with The O2 to be a pioneering relationship which sets a new standard for sponsorships. ECCO is a global market leader in footwear, while The O2 is the most successful entertainment venue in the world, which means the partnership represents a mutually beneficial strategic alliance between two organisations who share many common characteristics. Both are forward-thinking, innovative and successful both domestically and internationally.
Visitors to Up at The O2 will experience the superior benefits of ECCO shoes first hand during the climb as each climber will be provided with ECCO shoes for the climb. There are also plans to sell these shoes on location and drive traffic to the stores across the countries.
