PRLog - Feb. 19, 2013 - SEATTLE -- Rita Sunderland hopes to one day make it to the red carpet, albeit, not in person. She hopes her beautiful artisanal jewelry will adorn the neck of someone like Angelina Jolie someday.
Local artisanal jewelry maker Rita Sunderland’s Macrame Statement Necklace with Green Onyx will be on display at the luxury celebrity gift lounge during the 2013 Academy Awards this weekend. The gemstone necklace, which is part of her Tango to Three collection, will also be included in 100 gift bags given out to celebrity attendees.
Rita is one of only 25 talented Artisan Group artists to be included in this year’s Academy Awards collection.
Rita is a resident of Mountlake Terrance, WA. A Moscow, Russia, native, she moved to the Seattle area in 2005.
Rita was bit by the artistic bug when she was five years old, starting with macrame, sewing and knitting. Rita started making jewelry in 2006 when her husband bought her a pair of pliers and suggested she incorporate her creativity and artistic vision into jewelry.
Rita started selling her creations at local markets and on Etsy and soon outgrew that venue. She started showcasing her original works in her own online boutique jewelry store in 2011, RitaSunderland.com.
Rita’s handcrafted precious metal and gemstone earrings and necklaces are one-of-a-kind jewelry that are made from locally sourced rare-cut gemstones. “Send a gem to those you love” is a slogan she really takes to heart. Her choice of materials and creative designs are for the everyday woman who wants to feel feminine and beautiful.
Rita’s jewelry was also showcased through The Artisan Group’s celebrity gift lounge at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards, the 2012 CMA Awards and the 2012 American Music Awards.
She has also gifted celebrities with original designs, including Tyra Banks, Paula Abdul, Tori Spelling and Jenny McCarthy. Her celebrity and limited edition creations are available through her website boutique.
