DoGoodCon Launches Round of Early Bird Tickets on Kickstarter

First Social Entrepreneurship Festival Exclusively recognizing For-Profit Social Entrepreneurship using technology and design to create sustainable change launches on Kickstarter

Feb. 15, 2013 - PRLog -- NEW YORK, February 14, 2013--The team behind DoGoodCon (http://dogoodconnect.com/) today announce the release of their first round of early bird tickets for sale through Kickstarter. DoGoodCon celebrates social entrepreneurs who utilize technology and design to create sustainable solutions within their community while embracing  a for-profit business model that integrates a social mission. DoGoodCon takes place in New York City May 27-29, 2013 at The Altman Building in Chelsea. The event brings together social entrepreneurs and aspiring social entrepreneurs who are developing creative solutions to some of the world’s most pressing problems. Two days of innovative speakers (http://dogoodconnect.com/pages/speakers) and interactive panels will tell their compelling stories to over 500 attendees and will represent a variety industries – Technology, Design, Education, Fashion, Finance, Food, Transportation, Community, Film and Entertainment.

DoGoodCon founder Alison Potvin explains, “I started DoGoodCon because I became disillusioned with the existing non-profit model of fundraising to support worthy causes. I feel the answer to creating sustainable change lies in scalable solutions. The traditional charitable model is not a sustainable one, especially during these times of economic uncertainty and political gamesmanship. So, I went out in search of social entrepreneurs who are pursuing the work they love while creating sustainable change in both local and global communities.”

She adds, “I feel Kickstarter is an incredibly effective platform on which to launch DoGoodCon. The Kickstarter community embraces Doers and Innovators and DoGoodCon is all about action and innovation. Plus social entrepreneurs go a step beyond that by including a social mission in their model.” Tickets can be purchased on the DoGoodCon Kickstarter page (http://kck.st/WL0Sbp).
