TADAIMA Selected as Semi-Finalist in CAAM’s Ready, Set, Pitch, Contest 2013

PRLog (Press Release) - Feb. 12, 2013 - The Center for Asian American Media (CAAM) has selected TADAIMA (http://www.tadaimathemovie.com); a collaborative short film project helmed by NYU graduates, as a semi-finalist for this year’s READY, SET, PITCH Contest (http://caamedia.org/blog/caam-presents/2013/02/11/ready-s...).  Five more semi-finalists will be announced tomorrow with voters helping to narrow down the competitors to three or five finalists who will present live CAAMFest (Formerly San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival) happening March 14-24 in San Francisco.

Attached to the project are writer/director Robin Takao D’Oench (Tisch ’11), cinematographer Mingjue Hu (Tisch ’11), producer Vincent Hall (UC Santa Cruz '07) and executive producer Claire Brooks (Gallatin ’11). To date, they have collaborated on over 6 films.  

TADAIMA is a short children’s film about a family that returns from camp to their former home. The film is inspired by D’Oench’s own grandparents' experience, testimonials from "Making Home from War: Stories of Japanese American Exile and Resettlement," as well as illustrations from artists, Allen Say and Dom Lee.

Finalists will have the opportunity to win a $5,000 CAAM award for research and development. CAAM will also be offering an additional fund (TBA) to the pitch project that either reaches it’s crowd-funding goal fastest or is able to fully raise the entire amount (whichever is appropriate for the situation).

In order to vote, simply like your favorite video pitch. Results of the voting will help CAAM decide who the finalists will be. Voting ends Friday, Feb. 15th.
