While just two years old, the Interstellar Workshop has managed to attract some of the brightest stars in the commercial & government space industries. Scheduled to present at 2013’s Tennessee Valley Interstellar Workshop are: - Veteran NASA astronaut & space engineer Jan Davis; - Author and ‘astronaut teacher’ Mike Mongo; - Icarus Interstellar president & physicist Richard OBousey. TVIW founder Les Johnson is a legendary proponent of space travel. As a NASA physicist and researcher, Johnson has provided important contributions to the recently-popularized field of solar sails. He is a recognized international expert in space propulsion as well as a noted science fiction author. Hot on the heels of last year’s 100 Year Starship in Houston, TVIW’s main focus is likewise the examination and discussion of space travel to another star system. As a presenter at 100 Year Starship as well as this year’s Tennessee Valley Interstellar Workshop, author Mike Mongo is excited about the possibilities of an interstellar near-future. “Whenever I speak with students and adults,” says Mongo, author of HUMANNAIRES!
