Jan. 30, 2013 - PRLog -- Branford, CT; The Pat Munger Construction Company, Inc. has been awarded the 2012 Mellon Award of Excellence for applying Job Order Contracting (JOC) principles and practices. Munger was nominated for this award by the Town of North Haven, CT Department of Public Works.

Through the state's Capital Region Council of Governments program, Munger uses the JOC ezIQC form to competitively position itself as an on-call construction contractor ready to quickly execute projects that would be awarded by owners of public buildings.  Instead of bidding project by project, Munger bids on a catalog of construction tasks, each of which has a direct cost, unit of measure and specification. Over time, Munger workers complete multiple smaller jobs that roll up to the overall value of their contract.

Projects completed by Munger for the Town of North Haven included roof repairs, design and construction of a storage building for road de-icing salt; design and construction of a 5,000 square-foot Varco-Pruden pre-engineered steel building for sanitation crews and equipment; and installation of a maintenance shop ventilation system. Each project was accomplished within budget and on or ahead of schedule, according to town officials.  According to Public Works Director Lynn Sadosky, "This will better support our town’s infrastructure needs”.

"Everybody wins.  By performing high quality work we'll continue to receive projects and owners fulfill their need for quality, timeliness, and value pricing", said David DeMaio, Munger president. "We are proud to have been selected as the Northeast Region award winner."
