Jan. 28, 2013 - PRLog -- The Legacy Senior Communities, a non-profit charitable organization which began serving the Jewish elderly in 1953, has announced Dallas community philanthropist Carol Aaron as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. The announcement was made by Marc Stanley, chair of the nominating committee, The Legacy Senior Communities.

“We are honored that Carol is taking the role of chairman of the board of trustees,” said Michael Ellentuck, president, The Legacy Senior Communities. “Carol’s continuing role in the Jewish community and her 10 years of service on the board of The Legacy Senior Communities will allow her to make a great impact on our organization. We are fortunate that Carol has chosen to dedicate her time and efforts to The Legacy.”

Aaron is known for her love of family, her philanthropic work and her passion for ensuring the future of Dallas’s Jewish community. Most notably, she and her husband Steve Aaron provided the naming gift for the Aaron Family JCC (Jewish Community Center). She has also served the JCC as vice chair and as chair of major fundraising.

She has been deeply involved with the Federation of Greater Dallas as well. She has served as the pacesetter chair, campaign chair, president and chair of the 100th Anniversary Celebration.

Aaron has served on boards and advisory committees for many organizations, including: Chai, The Legacy Senior Communities, Dallas Jewish Historical Society, Solomon Schechter (now Levine Academy), Jewish Medical Center in Denver, Dallas Holocaust Museum, Dallas Jewish Community Foundation, and Shearith Israel.

She received the Kipnis-Wilson/Friedland Award in 2004, the BBG Alumnae of the Year Award in 2009, and the Husband and Wife Humanitarian Award from the Dallas Holocaust Museum.

“Since 1953, The Legacy Senior Communities organization has been dedicated to providing the very best in housing and healthcare options for our seniors,” said Aaron. “As the needs of seniors changed over the years, our organization adapted and transitioned from our original campus, Golden Acres, to serve our seniors through The Legacy Preston Hollow, The Legacy Willow Bend, and most recently, The Legacy at Home. They have provided care and support not only for residents but also for their families.

“Fortunately, my family is one of those recipients whose loved ones were given nursing and loving care over these past 60 years,” she continued. “Therefore, I have always felt a special bond with our senior community. Serving as a board member for the past 10 years has given me a chance to understand the magnitude of our services.

“As chair, I look forward to working with our board and professional staff in continuing to meet the demands of the Jewish senior community. I want to continue to update and improve upon our facilities and services, so we are able to meet future demands and expectations. The explosion of the aging Baby Boomers will put additional stress on our ability to address the needs of seniors within the evolving healthcare industry, and we need to be prepared. Being elected as chair of The Legacy Senior Communities is an honor, and I promise to see that the upmost care continues to be provided.”
