Examination – once they have completed all courses required by the board they will take a 10 hour multiple choice exam that tests their knowledge of financial planning and how well they can apply it to real-life financial situations.
Experience – must have 3 years of qualifying experience or 2 years of Apprenticeship experience that meets additional requirements.
Ethics – must take the fitness standards for candidates and registrants and undergo a background check in order to ensure there has been no unacceptable conduct in previous years that would affect their career as a CFP®.
