Michigan Business and Professional Association Offers Free Small Business Health Care Reform Guide
By: Michigan Business and Professional Association

Jan. 22, 2013 - PRLog -- With as many as 795,000 Michigan residents soon to be eligible for health care coverage as a result of the 2010 Affordable Care Act (ACA), the Michigan Business and Professional Association (MBPA) is making a special Small Business Health Care Reform Guide available to anyone who enters his/her contact information on the organization’s website at www.michbusiness.org.

“With the 2014 deadline for full implementation of this ground breaking law fast approaching, we thought it would be helpful to our members to develop a concise publication that summarizes the major provisions, examines the impact on Michigan business, explains the concept of exchanges, offers suggestions about talking to employees and provides information about additional resources,” said Jennifer Kluge, president. “After putting the guide together, we decided that it would be a worthwhile public service to offer the publication to anyone with access to the Internet,” she continued.

Kluge explained that the guide is intended to provide general information to help business leaders get started on the process of implementing the ACA, but that it is not intended to address all of the detailed provisions that uniquely apply depending on the size and complexity of each business.

“Late last year, we established a new service for our members called Health Care Reform Connect™ as a way to help them navigate the complexities of health care implementation,” Kluge stated.  “In addition to a series of webinars, online resources and tools, we issue a special monthly newsletter that highlights the latest information about implementation with links to additional resources and the guide is an outgrowth of that work,” she commented.  The standard Health Care Reform Connect™ tools are augmented by MBPA experts who provide custom answers to specific compliance questions through the member hotline.

Information about Small Business Health Care Reform Guide, Health Care Reform Connect™ and MBPA is available at http://michbusiness.org/

Based in Warren, Mich., the MBPA is the largest business organization of small to medium-sized businesses in Michigan, representing more than 20,000 members who employ over 160,0000 persons. Members include attorneys, physicians, architects, accountants, construction companies, banks, retail, wholesalers, manufacturers and the like.  Member businesses receive numerous benefits including free legal and financial consultations; discounted technology, automotive and office products; employee training and recruitment assistance; and competitive group insurance rates. The MBPA is a sister association to the Michigan Food & Beverage Association (MFBA).
