Credit score impact on dating, relationships, and love. Credit score disparity may create tension in relationships.

PRLog - Jan. 15, 2013 - DEERFIELD, Ill. -- The credit score, a metric for quantifying a consumers creditworthiness has grown to become an invaluable factor in determining qualification for cell phone service, housing, employment, and now…relationships.

Yes, that’s right, these days your credit score may determine whether or not you score, excuse the bad pun.  Gone are the days of looking in each others’ eyes, holding hands, and an eerie yet romantic awkward silence.

Today’s challenging economic times has men and women looking for responsible, dependable, stable, and mature mates.  Not surprising, these are the same exact qualities lenders look for when lending money.

In this post 2008 era, banks continue their lending prohibition against consumers with sub-prime credit. These consumers are left paying excessively high interest rates on mortgages, auto loans, credit cards, or even worse, completely unqualified and unable to obtain financing at all.

Some individuals worry that a large disparity in credit scores may create tension in relationships. Couples that are forced to rely too heavily on one partner’s credit score end up creating a rift, demoralizing, and alienating the sub-prime partner.  This inadvertent alienation may also create resentment and fracture what was once a solid relationship.

This is just one example of how a credit score may impact a relationship. But let’s be honest, it’s very difficult to quantify exactly how a credit score impacts dating, relationships, and love. As far as I’m concerned, there is no doubt that credit scores, and in turn the factors that they represent, play a significant role in 21st century relationships.

So the next time someone asks you what your sign is, follow up with your own question; whats your credit score?
